Group Classes

About Group Classes

Group classes are a fun way for dog owners to come together to learn about dog behavior, how dogs learn, about canine communication, and and how to teach their dogs new skills towards becoming well-mannered family companions.

Requirements:

  • Group classes are for dogs who are comfortable around and generally friendly towards other dogs and people.  They are not appropriate for dogs who have fear issues, or are reactive (lunging, growling, snapping) towards other dogs or people. If you are unsure whether a group class is appropriate for your dog, or you'd like to inquire about services that might be more appropriate and helpful for your dog, please e-mail us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
  • All dogs must have had both a distemper/parvo vaccine and a rabies vaccine within the past 3 years.  A copy of these records will need to be provided and kept on file with On The Mark Dog Training.  ** Please note that for classes held at Pet Perfection Inc, a distemper/parvo vaccine is required within the past YEAR and a Bordetella vaccine within the past 6 months.  This is because Pet Perfection Inc is a boarding facility.

  • Pet Perfection Inc, 9918 Highway 210, Four Oaks NC

**Currently classes are only offered in Wake and Johnston counties.

Manners 101

Class DescriptionIn Manners 101, pet owners will discover the wonderful world of positive reinforcement and how to apply it to get your dog to behave in the ways you want.  You'll learn how dogs learn best and most quickly; you'll learn to communicate with your dog in ways he/she clearly understands; and you'll learn how to teach your dog new skills and behaviors that will help him/her to become a well-mannered family companion.  This is all valuable information that you'll take with you and use long after class is over!

The dogs will learn foundation behaviors that will begin to help them develop increased self-control, calmer behavior, and increased responsiveness to owners.  An emphasis will be on dogs learning "automatic behaviors" so that owners will not always have to cue their dog (i.e. give a command) to behave a certain way.  These behaviors can eventually be transferable to real-life situations such as polite greetings, waiting calmly, coming when called, and settling down when asked.

Specific skills taught will include sit, down, sit-stay, down-stay, attention, wait, leave it, come when called, walk politely on leash, and settle on a mat.
